Alcohol
You MUST be 21 to drink alcohol in the campground. Please keep in mind that this is a family campground. Drunken behavior will not be tolerated. No drinking permitted while in the water or on water recreation equipment. Drinking of alcoholic beverages and driving will not be allowed in any vehicle including golf carts. Alcohol beverages must be contained to your campsite unless disguised. Serving alcohol to minors will result in removal from the park.
Basin
Please accompany your children around the stream. It can get high during rainy season. Note: there are no attendants in this area. Trailers stored in the basin are under our authority, and vandalism or stealing of parts will be subject to prosecution and removal from the park.
Bike Riding
No riding bikes after dark. No bikes in any buildings.
Call Button
If you need to reach the office during the weekdays, use the call button located at the gate.
Camp Fees
Camp fee must be paid in full before camping will be permitted.
Changes To Site
Any change to site including but not limited to, decks, sheds, trailer placement, landscaping, etc. must be approved by the management. If the site is to be vacated any and all personal property and belongings must be removed from the park and the site must be left 100% clean. Anyone not doing so will be assessed a clean up fee. Any trees, flowers, shrubs, landscaping, or gravel added to your site is done so knowing that these items cannot be removed if you vacate the site. YOU MUST GET PERMISSION TO LAY GRAVEL. No driveways, courtyards etc permitted on sites without permission from management.
Children
Parents are responsible at all times for their children’s and friends of their children’s safety, behavior and actions including any damage they may cause. Children and teenagers must be at their campsite by 11pm. Persons under the age of 21 not permitted to camp alone with out a registered adult.
Commercial Business Operation
This is a campground and commercial business is not permitted.
Drop Of Box/Slot
An after hours drop off slot is located at the store on the entry door. There is a box located to the right of the door with envelopes and pens. This is provided for your convenience if you need to pay for a pump-out or need to leave us a message or pay for a visitor. Please remember, if you have guest come in to the park, they must register and pay admission. This includes weekdays as well as weekends. For any guest found not registered the rate will be tripled, (see visitors).
Dump Stations
- Dump stations are provided for emptying of waste. Everyone must use chemicals in their holding tanks.
- Be considerate of others when dumping. Avoid dumping at meal times etc.
Clean up after yourself. - A waste pick up service is provided by the park on a per-needed or with weekly sign ups. See office for details.
We cannot empty Johnny Carts, only the holding tanks on the R.V.
Please be advised, there are some RV units we cannot pump out.
Schedule and pay for all pump outs at the office. Pump outs are typically done on Mondays. Emergency pump outs can be preformed. (See office for scheduling and rates).
Electric Boxes & Payments
Do not tamper with the electric boxes. If you need your lock unsealed, you must contact management. It is against Shawnee Lake Park rules to enter the locked box without permission and doing so could result in $100.00 fine or removal from the campground without refund. The only cord permitted plugged in to your box is your trailer cord. All others cords must be plugged from your trailer.
There should be NO reason to get in to your box.
Electric Payments
Due the first weekend of every month. Read all the numbers on your meter (there is no decimal on these meters), then bring the reading to the office.
Emergencies
Call 911. If you need assistance please call the office at 330-648-2577. After hours emergencies, call security. A pay phone is also located at the entrance gate.
Fires
- Fire rings are to remain where found on sites. If you desire to move the ring, you must get permission from the office and repair the spot where the old ring was located.
- No burning of garbage per Medina County Health Department.
- No cans or bottles in rings.
- Be considerate of your neighbors when burning. No one wants to breathe noxious smoke (plastic/trash).
- Maintain size of fire.
- Do not leave fires unattended.
- A metal can is by the trash area for cleaning out your rings. Please leave it by the yard waste trailer and we will dump it.
Fishing Lakes
- Fishing is catch and release only. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Fishing is permitted in both lakes but do not trespass on other’s sites, common areas only. These lots are private. You may fish by the store to the beach area.
- Do not move fish lake to lake.
- Boats are available for rent. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
- No gasoline engines are allowed on the lake.
- Bait is available in the store.
- No swimming in the lakes. Life jackets are required at all times when boating.
Gate Cards
Gate cards are for REGISTERED seasonal campers only. Two cards per site unless approved by the management. There is a nominal refundable fee for each gate card. When cards are returned the fee will be refunded. Gate cards are NOT to be given or loaned to your guests (see Visitor’s); violation of this rule could result in confiscation of your card without fee refund. Shawnee Lake Park is not responsible for your cards if they are stolen lost or damaged while in your possession and no refund will be given. Your cards will be deactivated at the end of camping season. Gate cards will be reactivated the following season once your lot in paid in full.
Golf Carts (Only Electric Golf Carts)
- Shawnee Lake Park management must approve all golf carts.
- Golf carts are to be driven by licensed drivers 21 years of age or older. NO CHILDREN permitted to drive golf carts.
- Must pay annual fee.
- Must display lot number on both sides of cart in visible area.
- Liability insurance is required to drive any golf cart.
- Everyone riding on the cart must have a seat and be seated in it while the cart is in motion. Chairs strapped on are not considered acceptable seating
- 7. 5MPH
- Drinking of alcoholic beverages and driving will not be allowed in any vehicle.
- Do not drive through other peoples campsites. Use the roads only.
- Golf carts NOT PERMITTED on fishing lake path, swim lake, playground, basin, or any where except on gravel roads or your campsite.
- Please secure your golf cart when not in use. NEVER leave your keys in your golf cart while parked.
Gray Water
Do not drain directly on the ground.
Disposal of gray water can be provided with:
- A pump out.
- Hauling using your Johnny cart
- Gray Well – French Drain. The majority of the sites have a gray will or French Drain. Check with management for the location and proper usage.
Injuries
Camping can be hazardous done in a natural environment it is understood this is done at your own risk. For emergencies, call 911.
Lawn
Seasonal campers are responsible for their lot maintenance: grass cutting and general clean up. Unkempt sites will be mowed at the management’s discretion for a fee. (See office). Lawn service is provided at an additional fee based on lot size and services provided.
Littering
We despise littering. Littering will not be tolerated. Please make a special effort to talk with your children and help in this matter. Littering fines have been suggested but we don’t need the extra work. And yes, it is not just kids, Please Help. Please do not drop your cigarette butt on the ground, dispose of it
Lot Deposit
A deposit is required to hold your lot for the next season. Lot Deposit is Non refundable or transferable. Due on or before September 15th, and will hold the lot until opening weekend at which time the full camping fee is due. If the camping fee is not paid by opening weekend, we will consider your trailer abandoned (see rules on abandonment) and take the necessary steps described.
- The lot deposit will be applied to your upcoming lot fee.
- If lot deposit is not paid by September 15 of the current year, the lot will then be marketed as available.
- If lot deposit is not paid for the upcoming year and you intend to remove it, it must removed one week before closing of the current year. Failure to remove your trailer by closing weekend will result in a $26.00 a day storage fee starting October 16 of the current year. It will then be considered abandoned (see Abandonment). We will take the necessary steps described in abandonment (see abandonment).
Medina County Health Department
Any campsite receiving a citation will be given a copy of that citation and must make the necessary changes within 14 days. Most common violations are: Trash in fire ring, chemicals left out, gray water hookups.
Minimum Age Requirements
You must be 21 years or older to rent a campsite.
Moving Your Trailer, Shed or Deck
You must sign an installation and removal agreement for any trailer move done by the park (fees apply, see management for rates). The trailer must be ready and capable of being moved. i.e. water, electric and sewer disconnected and put away. All jacks stands & leveling blocks removed from under the trailer. All customers’ personal belongings removed from lot. IMPORTANT: there must be air in all the tires. Shawnee Lake Park has the right to coordinate the moving date and times. If an outside transport is being used, they must contact management at least 15 days prior to removal or move in. Camper is responsible for damage caused by themselves or their transporter. SHEDS: must be emptied, you must be present and assist with the move. DECKS: must be disassembled, you must be present and assist with the move.
Not Allowed In Campground
Firearms/weapons, drugs, marijuana and fireworks are strictly prohibited! Pellet, paint ball, BB guns, bows and arrows, gas engine golf carts, gas engine scooters, mini-bikes, mopeds, go-carts or ATVs are NOT PERMITTED in the campground. CHILDREN’S electric cars, bikes, scooters etc. not permitted.
Nature
It is the responsibility of campers to remove pests (animal & insects) inside and on the outside of their trailer.
Off Season
Please be advised that drive in access will not be allowed while the park is closed. Walk in access is permitted: you may park your vehicle in the parking area between the lakes if you want to check your camper. The large gate between the lakes will be locked during our off season. Gate cards will be disabled and the call button disconnected. Selling of your camper is prohibited during off season; you must remove your camper from the park if you wish to sell it.
Parking
Please park on your own campsite. Additional guest parking is available in designated parking areas. Your guests, are required to display an entrance pass in clear view.
Pets
- Two per camp site unless approved by the management. Please provide office with proof of immunization. A copy can be obtained from your veterinarian.
- Dogs are not to be walked by children 6 years and under unless accompanied by an adult.
- NO PET NIGHT WALKING PERMITTED. Dog walking between the hours of 8am to sunset.
- Aggressive dogs of any breeds are not welcome. If your dog shows behavior that is protective and unfriendly to strangers, and other animals, please leave it home. If you decide to bring your dog and it exhibits this type of behavior the owner or manager will ask you to please find other camping accommodations. Park owners retain right to refuse admittance to any dog deemed a nuisance or which poses a hazard. Aggressive behavior towards people or other pets will result in removal from the park.
- Guests: Your guests are NOT permitted to bring their pets and will be denied entry.
- Pet Insurance: Your home owner’s policy should have a section in it that covers your pet. It is the pet owner’s sole responsibility and they are completely liable for their pet(s).
- Any incidents, accidents or bites involving a pet must be immediately reported to the management. Shawnee Lake Park is not responsible for pet occurrences. It is the sole responsibility of the pet owner.
- Any pet that bites will be handed over to the Medina County Health Department for a mandatory 10 day observation.
- Pet owners are responsible for picking up pet droppings and their pet’s behavior.
- No exotic pets.
- All pets must be kept on a leash.
- Pets are never to be left unattended. Allowing your pet to bark uncontrollably day or night will not be permitted and you may be asked to leave if you are not able to control your pets barking.
- Pets are not permitted on the beach, in the playgrounds, in any buildings, or the upper fishing lake. Our major insurance provider requirements are that we cannot accept breeds having a history of unfriendly and aggressive behavior to both other dogs and to humans. These breeds (pure & mixed) to name a few are: Dobermans, Pitt Bull, Chows, Rottweiler, Wolfs.
Picnic Pavillion
There are a few pavilions throughout the park. They are intended for the enjoyment of all campers in their immediate area. No personal items are to be left in pavilion. Please be considerate. Stapling tablecloths on tables is prohibited.
Picnic Tables
These are the property of the park, entrusted to you to, maintain and keep in good condition. Please do not abuse, carve, or write on. Please remove any covering on the table at the end of the season.
Pool
- Swimming is at your own risk.
- No lifeguard on duty.
- Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. This means that an adult may not depart the pool and leave a child unsupervised.
- No glass in the pool area. Food and beverages (other than bottle water) are not allowed in pool area.
- Children age 5 and under must have and adult (18 and older) in the water with them at all times. This means you must be IN THE WATER WITH THE CHILD.
- No diving is allowed.
- No Pushing or Shoving.
- No horseplay or misuse of pool equipment.
- Pool furniture is not permitted in the pool.
- No pets allowed in pool area.
- Swim diapers required on all infants.
- Pool hours are posted.
Property Damage
Property damage to our campground is cause for IMMEDIATE EVICTION. Malicious and willful destruction in any part of the campground will be grounds for eviction and prosecution. Management reserves the right to have anyone vacate the campground at any time. Many of our rules fall under our strict, no tolerance policy and if violated, you will be instructed to leave without a refund.
Quiet Time
11pm to 9am. No hanging out on the playground, after dark. Children and teens must be at their own site by 11pm.
Restrooms & Showerhouse
Please help us keep them sparkling clean. Do not leave paper towels or toilet paper on the floor. No dishwashing, clothes washing or foot washing in sinks. Pets and smoking are not permitted in the restrooms. No dumping port-a-potties in restroom toilets. Accompany and stay with all children 7 and under using the restrooms or showers.
Security Gate
The gates are manned during office hours on the weekends. (9am to 9pm). If you arrive after 9pm, you must have your gate card to gain entry. If you do not have your card, you must park your vehicle and walk to your site. During the week days, the office is unmanned and you are required to have your key card to gain entry, or push the call button located by the gate. The gate is FULLY operational 24 hours per day. You may always leave the campground by pulling close to the exit bar which senses your vehicle and opens automatically. To enter the campground when an attendant is not present, wave your gate card at the red light located on the security bar. Only one vehicle may pass through the gate at one time. The bar comes down after each vehicle. Attempts to rush through more than one vehicle on one lift of the gate could result in damage to your vehicle or the gate. Cost to you of replacing a damaged gate is $100.00. If you are towing a non-metal trailer please check at the office before proceeding through the gate.
Security Guard
There is a guard on duty Friday & Saturday starting at 10PM. call 330-648-2577 if a guard is needed. The security guard is instructed to call the sheriff at their discretion.
Selling Your Camper
If you sell or remove your camper during camping season, you are given 2 weeks to replace your camper. After this time the campsite reverts back to the campground and will be remarketed. Seasonal camping is not prorated, if you sell or remove your camper from the park there are no refunds. We reserve the right to refuse resale of a camper within the park due to the condition or past history. (See management with any questions). If you bring a new camper into the campground, while your old one is still here, you must remove the old camper immediately upon placement of your new camper. If the camper is not removed, you will be charged for two campsites or $26.00 per day storage fee whichever is applicable.
Additional Rules For Selling Your RV
- You must notify the campground when you are selling your RV. You must get permission from the park to resale the RV within the campground.
- RV’s over 20 years old must leave the park upon sale.
- Untitled RV’s must leave the park upon sale.
- Okay to sell your RV in the park during open season. You must remove your camper if you want to sell it during off season.
- Old RV’s currently in the park are grandfathered until the time that they sell.
- No subletting of lots permitted.
- Selling your camper does not include your site. If you are selling to stop camping you can not include your site in the sale. It will revert back to owners.
Shed Rules
- Sizes Less than 60 square feet.
- No home made sheds. Rubbermaid only.
- Must have a floor and be on skids for mobility.
- Must be anchored down. No concrete is to be used
- Park owners have final decision of placement on lot.
- All sheds must be maintained properly. Owners will have full authority to condemn and eliminate any shed not meeting park approval and specifications.
- Not all lots are conducive to sheds, and some lots will not be permitted to have sheds
- Locks must be placed on shed doors. Shawnee Lake Park is not responsible for your personal property which has been stolen, lost or damaged.
Site Sharing
Overnight guests sleeping in a tent, trailer, or any vehicle other than the trailer registered on the site will be charged the full camping fee. Any overnight guest sleeping in your trailer will be charged overnight guest fee.
Smoking
No smoking is permitted in the office/store, recreation game room building, the Port-A-Johns or restrooms. DO NOT throw your cigarette butts on the ground or on the beach. Dispose of properly. This inconsiderate practice can burn a camper’s bare feet and makes our beautiful campground look dirty.
Speed Limit
It is 5MPH. We have a lot of children in the park. Please be careful and obey the speed limit. Everyone has permission to tell people to SLOWDOWN!
Theft
Shawnee Lake Park is not responsible for any personal items stolen, lost or damaged inside or outside of your trailer. If you suspect an item stolen, you are to call the local sheriff department and make a police report. Non emergency phone 330-725-6631, emergency 911.
Trash
NO TV’S OR MATTRESSES ALLOWED TO BE PLACED IN OR AROUND THE DUMPSTERS FOR DISPOSAL. YOU MUST TAKE THEM HOME WITH YOU. A FINE WILL OCCUR IF THIS IS VIOLATED.
- Dumpsters are at the lodge.
- All trash must be in bags.
- Leaves, grass clippings and tree branches can be put on the trailer by the dumpster. Bagging is unnecessary.
- Large objects are to be left next to the dumpster i.e. large cardboard, grills etc.
- No trash is to be dumped from outside the park.
The trash cans located throughout the park are not to be used for your campsite waste.
Aluminum cans and metal are being recycled. There is a special drum for these located at the dumpsters. Metal can go on the trailer. On holiday weekends, please take as much trash to dumpsters as possible on Monday night.
Trees
- No cutting or trimming of trees is permitted without permission from the office.
- The park is not responsible for damage from falling trees or branches.
- Do not nail or screw anything to the trees or their branches.
- If you see a dangerous condition please notify the office. If we cannot take care of the problem right away upon your request we will move you to a temporarily to another lot.
- If you need a branch cut, please submit a work request at the office.
- All clothes lines must be taken down at the end of the season. No wire or cable allowed.
Visitors
- Overnight guests must leave by 11am the following day. If not they will be charged overnight rates.
- No guest permitted in park past 10pm except by permission from the office.
- Permanent campers are responsible for their visitors at all times.
- No tents on your site without permission from the office.
- All visitors must be registered and pay admission WEEK DAYS AS WELL AS WEEKENDS. If a guest comes in with you while the office is closed, it is your responsibility to register and pay by using the drop off box/slot.
- Fee will be tripled for any guest found not register and paid for.
- Entering without registering will be considered trespassing on private property and you will be subject to immediate removal and prosecution. Campers are responsible for their guests.
Water Usage
Trailer washing is permitted: you must notify the office if you plan on washing your trailer or cement pad. There is a nominal charge for the water usage. Absolutely no washing of vehicles or any other personal property is permitted. Swimming pool of any size is not permitted.
WiFi
This is a FREE amenity. Please be advised that our system in designed as a service to allow checking of emails and minor surfing of the web. It is NOT built for gaming, downloading videos or movies. We do have the ability to block anybody who abuses the system and will do so. Other things that should be noted: 1. Weather plays an important role in service –Rain and Clouds = Bad; Sunshine = Good. 2. Some will not get service in their camper; this is due to the metal of the camper as well as signal strength. 3. Our system is operating at its best capability.
Winter Storage
Winter storage is included in the base rate. If you are not camping with us in the upcoming year, we ask that you remove your camper by the weekend before closing of the current year or a $26.00 per day storage fee will incur starting October 16th of the current year. It will then be considered abandoned (see Abandonment). We will then take the necessary steps described in abandonment (see abandonment).
Abandonment
- Vehicles. In season, any vehicle left unoccupied, on an unpaid site, without prior written authorization from Camp Operator will be deemed to have been abandoned. Any vehicle not removed from the park within 48 hours after the last day of the season, without prior written authorization from Camp Operator, will be deemed to be abandoned. Campsite user understands that any abandoned vehicle or vehicles can and will be towed to a storage facility on premises, at the expense of the campsite user, campsite user further understands that any titled vehicle will be disposed of at campsite user’s cost. Camp Operator reserves the right to dispose of the vehicle in any way it deems appropriate including but not limited to the following options:
- If the vehicle has been unoccupied for 5 consecutive days after the term defined in the Campsite Use Agreement expires, the Camp Operator may file an action to seizure of the remaining property with appropriate municipal court pursuant of ORC 37733.082. The campsite User shall remove all property and answer within 7 days after service of said actions. Failure to do so will result in the court either issuing an order authorizing the sheriff, another peace officer, or a bailiff to remove the property from the campsite and place it in storage or authorizing the Camp Operator to seize the property and cause issuance to the Camp Operator of a new certification title for the property if the property is a titled vehicle.
- Once the vehicles in the storage facility for at least 15 days, the Camp Operator may obtain a certificate of title so long as the value of the property after the deducting of storage and clean up fees are less then $2500.00, pursuant to ORC 4504.01.13. Other Property. Any property left at the campsite upon the conclusion of the Campsite Use Agreement term, including but not limited to sheds, porches, or personal items inside the vehicle, will be deemed abandoned. Campsite User hereby acknowledge, and consents to Camp Operator disposing of any personal property left behind in any manner Camp Operator sees fit at Campsite User’s cost.
Tow Away Zone: Shawnee Lake Park Campground (located at 6464 Congress Road, Spencer, Ohio 44275)is a private tow away zone, - Storage Fees: Any vehicle abandoned on the campground will be assessed storage fees, which are to be calculated from the day of abandonment. The fees will be $10.00 per day.
- Acknowledgment and release Campsite User hereby acknowledges that the campground and cabin area are natural habitats and many obvious and hidden dangers including but not limited to falling limbs, poison icy, sun exposure, and animals, both natural and domestic. Despite these dangers, Campsite User hereby accepts the risks. Further Campsite User hereby releases Shawnee Lake Park Campground its shareholders, and management for any present or future claims, INCLUDING A CLAIM FOR NEGLIGENCE, to property damage, personal injury or death arising from my participation in the camping activity.
Acknowledgment and Release
The campsite user acknowledges that the campground and cabin area are natural habitats with many obvious and hidden dangers, including but not limited to falling limbs, poison ivy, sun exposure, and animals, both wild and domestic. Despite these dangers, the campsite user accepts the risks. The campsite user releases Shawnee Lake Park Campground, its shareholders, and management from any present or future claims, INCLUDING A CLAIM FOR NEGLIGENCE, related to property damage, personal injury, or death arising from participation in camping activities.
Any disrespect toward staff or property may result in immediate removal from park without refund.
